I love graphic recording so much that sometimes I do pro bono work. I’m going to be capturing a day-long leadership training course my friend is running for her church community.
Whether it’s paid work or a volunteer gig for fun, I prepare for the session in the same way, by packing my recorder bag, choosing a color scheme, and thinking of a few layout options.
What’s in the bag?
Here’s what I’m packing for the session:
Neuland No. One markers in 010 (permanent), 702 (pastel violet), and Neuland Art Marker (brush tip) in 101 (grey)
Tech: iPhone/iPad, chargers (including a portable charger)
Scissors
Post-its
Pencils
Eraser
Artists tape
Uni Posca acrylic marker in white
Blank sketchbook
Tripod
Shipping labels
White-out
Roll of paper
Brush to wipe away eraser dust
Alcohol wipes (or hand sanitizer)
Box cutter
*New hack!* Drop cloth to wrap around paper and portable wall in case it rains
Staying fueled:
32oz water bottle (not shown in video) - make sure you stay hydrated!
Coffee or tea (if you drink it)
Portable snacks such as: fruit, smoothie packets, granola, protein bars, premade protein shakes, jerky, breakfast biscuits (bonus if you don’t need cutlery!)
Pro tip: If your snacks need refrigeration, bring a small lunch box with an ice pack.
In the next installment, I’ll show the final result and some reflections!
Happy scribing!
